Grok, DeepSeek, Perplexity and Meta AI are all currently below 4%.

What’s particularly interesting is what has happened to ChatGPT. Its market share has fallen, yet its number of users has grown dramatically, from 57.7 million to approximately 1.1 billion.

In other words, ChatGPT has added more than a billion users while its share of the market has declined. That’s a remarkable illustration of just how rapidly the overall AI audience has expanded.

The other number that stands out is Gemini’s 27.7% share. There is now a sizeable gap between ChatGPT and Gemini, but there’s also a sizeable gap between Gemini and third-placed Claude at 10.3%.

My prediction is that Gemini will catch ChatGPT within the next 12 months. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but it’s certainly going to be interesting to watch.

Based on this graph, the market currently looks increasingly like a two-horse race between ChatGPT and Gemini.

For marketers, that’s worth paying attention to. ChatGPT may still be number one, but Gemini has become too large to ignore.

46.4% versus 27.7%. Let’s see where those numbers are 12 months from now.

.
